Pull the audio track out of any video — MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV — into MP3, M4A (AAC), WAV, or Opus. Useful for pulling music out of videos you have rights to, making audio podcasts from interviews, extracting voice memos from recorded calls, or just saving the sound from a clip without keeping the video. Runs in your browser, so your files never touch a server.

When to extract audio

Audio-only versions are much smaller — a 20-minute video might be 500MB, but just its audio is maybe 20-30MB. Great for listening to interviews, talks, or lectures on the move. Podcast episodes often start as video recordings; extracting the audio is the first step to publishing. Musicians sometimes want the audio from a live recording. Voice memos stuck inside video files can be extracted for transcription.

Which audio format to pick

MP3 — maximum compatibility, every device plays it. M4A (AAC) — same size, slightly better quality at the same bitrate, plays on Apple devices and most Android. Opus — smallest file at the same quality, ideal for voice content and modern playback platforms. WAV — uncompressed, huge files, only useful if you need the audio for further editing without re-compression. Default to MP3 unless you have a reason to change.

Bitrate and size trade-offs

For voice content (podcast, interview, lecture): 64-96 kbps mono is plenty and cuts file size dramatically. For music: 192-256 kbps stereo is the standard — indistinguishable from the source on most playback. Going to 320 kbps is only useful if the source was high quality to begin with; extracting 320k MP3 from a 128k source video gains nothing. The tool previews estimated file size as you choose.
