A favicon is tiny. Detail disappears fast — a full logo with text is usually unreadable at 16 pixels. The trick is to design a mark: one letter, one bold symbol, or a simplified version of your logo. Use high contrast and solid shapes. If you start with a full logo, crop to just the icon mark using the crop tool before bringing it here. For a clean transparent mark, background remover first, then favicon.
