Have you ever uploaded a beautiful vertical photo to Instagram, only to have the app forcibly crop off the top of your head or your shoes? The default "Square" (1:1) crop is a relic of 2010.
The Secret Ratio: 4:5
The pros don't post squares. They post Portraits.
- Square (1:1): 1080 x 1080 px.
- Portrait (4:5): 1080 x 1350 px.
The Math: The Portrait aspect ratio gives you 25% more screen space on a user's phone. That's 25% more pixels to sell your product, show your art, or grab attention.
How to Fix Your Photos (Without Photoshop)
You don't need to guess the crop.
- Go to our Batch Editor (or the Crop tool).
- Upload your photo.
- Choose the "IG Portrait" Preset.
- This intelligently resizes your image to 1080px width.
- It adjusts the height to 1350px.
- If your image is too tall (9:16), use the Crop tool to center the subject first.
Pro Tip: This works perfectly for carousels too!
